How to Install Magento Manually

In the previous tutorial, we've discussed about Magento installation using the cPanel's Softaculous App Installer. In this tutorial, we shall do the opposite this time around by performing manual installation.

However, if given a choice, we would still recommend you to pick the Softaculous auto installer route in order to save time, effort and convenience. Based on our experience, you can save a lot of time and effort by using the Softaculous auto installer as it allows you to install a new Magento application within a minute. Unless you are good with technical stuffs then you may want to perform manual installation of Magento.

Before we begin, you need to register for a free Magento account at the link here.
=> https://account.magento.com/customer/account/login

If you already have an account with Magento, please skip the registration step and go to visit https://magento.com/tech-resources/download.

Once you're login to Magento dashboard, you need to visit this link .

Scroll down until you see the following section " Full Release (ZIP with Sample Data) "

Select which Magento version you wish to download and click on the download button. You shall see a pop-up immediately and kindly fill up all the relevant details.
NOTE: Download zip file under the section Full Release (ZIP with Sample Data)

The download will start immediately once you have submitted your details.

Once you have downloaded the zip file, it's time to upload it to your hosting account /public_html/ folder (provided you're installing Magento at that folder) or in a subdirectory e.g. /public_html/magento2/

For uploading purpose, we recommend you to upload the zip file using File Manager.

To extract the content from the zip file, click on the Extract button inside your File Manager. In our case. we shall extract the zip content to /public_html/magento2/. To begin the extraction, highlight the item and click on the extract button.

In our case, we renamed the extracted folder to "magento2". Now the following Wizard setup page should appear when we typed www.mydomain.com/magento2/

Replace mydomain.com with your own domain name.

Click " Agree and Setup Magento " button.

Click the Next button as instructed during the entire installation process.

On the next page you should input your database name, username and password.
For instructions on how to create your own MySQL database and username, kindly follow this tutorial first.

Database Server Host must be set to "localhost"

Enter your web configuration e.g. your store address and administrator address

On the next page you should configure the basic localization settings for your store. These options can be changed later via your Magento Admin panel. Click on the Next button when you are ready with your settings.

On the next page you will need to input your Magento New Username, New Email, New Password and Confirm Password.

This is the final step. You just need to click on the Install Now red button. Congratulations, you have successfully installed Magento manually on your hosting account.
