How to Change or Update Existing Administrator Account

There is a good reason why you need to replace the existing "admin" username for your Magento account. By replacing the " admin " account, you're reducing the chances of getting your account hacked by brute force attack. If someone is trying to brute force hack into your website, they happen to somehow find out what your admin URL is and then they are going to start trying lots of different combinations of things. Probably what they're going to use is " admin " for the username, and then try just brute forcing the password itself or at least, that is common tactic. So if you use something other than simply admin for your username, that's just a little bit extra security you have and that'w what we also recommend here at ServerFreak.

Here's how you can change your username from admin to other thing else:

Login to your Magento administrator dashboard and click on the top right corner (Account Setting) as highlighted below:

Update your username and other details e.g. First Name , Last Name, Email etc. Once you're done, remember to enter your administrator password at Current User Identity Verification

Press the Save Account button at the top right corner in order to save changes.
