How to Import Your Blogspot Content to WordPress

In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through how to move your blog from Blogger to WordPress, step by step.

NOTE: This tutorial assume you already have WordPress installed in your hosting account. We shall skip the WordPress installation steps.

The first step is to export your Blogger blog. To export your blog from Blogger, log into your Blogger.com profile and navigate to Settings » Other. In the Import & back up section, click the Back up content button.

This will trigger a modal popup in which you’ll be asked to make a backup of your blog. Click the Save to your computer button.

Now import the downloaded file into your WordPress. To do this, go to your WordPress Dashboard > Tools > Import. Just below the Blogger option, click Install Now. Then, click Run Importer.

Next, choose the file you’ve just downloaded from Blogger. Then import it into your WordPress site by clicking on Upload and finally Upload file and import.

After importing the files, you’ll be asked whether you need to create new users on your site or assign the posts to your existing users.

In this case, I'm importing my Blogger.com author Josh SF into my WordPress site.

Import process is complete. You may now check your Permalinks if any editing work is necessary.

Basically, the Blogger to WordPress importing process is 100% complete. However, if you need to redirect future incoming traffic from your old Blogspot site back to your WordPress site, you may follow our next tutorial here.
