How to Add G Suite Email Account to Outlook

There are 3 sections for this tutorial:
Enable IMAP Settings from your G Suite Account
Create an App Password in Gmail
Enter Your Outlook Configuration (IMAP)



Section 1: Enable IMAP Settings



Login to your G Suite email account and click on the gear icon and click Settings.




Click on " Forwarding on POP / IMAP " and scroll down to IMAP Access. Turn on IMAP by selecting Enable IMAP. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.





Step 2: Create an App Password in Gmail


Go to Gmail from your browser, then select the Google apps icon in the upper right corner of the screen.




Click on Security on the left panel. You need to enable both 2-Step Verification and App Password.



if 2-Step Verification is ON, skip to the next step. Otherwise, select 2-Step Verification and follow the prompts. When you're done, select the back arrow at the top of the screen.

Now click on App Password. Enter your Google password and then select Sign in. At the bottom of the next screen, select Mail and Windows Computer from the drop-down lists, then select Generate.




Google will display an app password for you. Make a note of this password (without the spaces) and use this as the password when adding a new account to Outlook.

Section 3: Enter Your Outlook Configuration (IMAP)


Once open your Outlook, enter your target G Suite email address and other options as below:




Select Google as highlighted below



Enter your App Password created in Step 5 as the password and press the Connect button.



Make sure you set the following IMAP email settings for your Outlook before pressing the Next button.

Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com

Port: 993

Encryption method: SSL/TLS

Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 465

Encryption method: SSL/TLS




You shall see your email account successfully setup in MS Outlook if everything is fine. Click the button as highlighted below to complete the setup.




Open your Outlook and you shall see all emails will be downloaded immediately.
