# How to Set Up HTTPS for Joomla


|| NOTE: You need to purchase & install SSL certificate first before you can proceed with this tutorial


1. Login to your Joomla Administrator dashboard and click on **System → Global Configuration**

2. Click on **Server** tab and scroll down to **Server Settings** section.

3. Click on the drop down box on **Force HTTPS** and see the available HTTPS option.

**Administrator Only** - this will secure only the backend of your website. This means that only administrator pages will be loaded using **https**, the frontend will work via http.

**Entire Site** - this will secure the entire website and make all pages work via https. This is the recommended option.


4. Once you have selected your ideal HTTPS option, click on **Save & Close** button to save changes.
