By now you should already know the benefits of SSL for a website. In case you do not know about it, you can always read up the article here.

This tutorial assumes that you have already purchased a SSL certificate for your domain name

Login to your cPanel control panel and click on File Manager.

Locate your Concrete5 folder. In our case, it's located in /public_html/concrete5/

Now you need to create a .htaccess file at your computer desktop.
Insert the following command into your .htaccess file:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
</IfModule>

Replace example.com above with your actual domain name

If your Concrete5 is located in a subdirectory e.g. example.com/concrete5, then you need to use this code instead:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://example.com/concrete5/$1 [R=301,L]
</IfModule>

Now, you need to upload your newly created .htaccess file to your Concrete5 folder via File Manager or FTP such as Filezilla.

Make sure you overwrite the existing .htaccess file when the prompt appears!

Now, once you access your website, you will be automatically redirected to the secured https protocol.
